So here we are on Sunday morning. I have a confession - I wasn't hardcore enough to stand another night in the tent with frost on the outside! At 11.30pm last night I bailed out and stayed the night at the nearby Abercave Inn ... warm bed, hot running water, full welsh breakfast .... good decision!!
Back at the Touratech Travel Event we sat drinking coffee and chewing the fat on motorcycle travelling - one of the best bits of this type of event for me. Sam and Clare from www.chasinghorizons.co.uk were there as was author Sam Manicom (http://www.sam-manicom.com/) who has written some of the best motorcycle travel books out there so go check out his website and buy a book!
Also at the table was Nathan Millward (www.thepostman.org.uk) who rode 'Dot' a 110cc postman's delivery bike from Australia all the way back home to the UK.
Very interesting to hear his thoughts on why you should and equally should not set off on a major trip!
.... and finally, Craig Carey-Clinch and his better half! Humbling for me as their son served in Afghanistan, was injured and is now back in the UK, out of the army and having to come to terms with his experiences. Exactly what Help for Heroes and my trip is all about. The servicemen and women who are hurt and traumatised by their experience serving on our behalf. This is why I NEED you to visit www.bmycharity.com/dambusters2012 and donate to Help for Heroes on-line today!!
Craig is also a significant supporter of another excellent charity, Motorcycle Outreach.
Again, I would urge you to visit their site at http://www.motorcycleoutreach.org/ and have a look at what they do bring medicine to vulnerable people and support their efforts.
Only two days till dambusters2012 team set off to commemorate the 1943 Dambusters Raid in support of Help for Heroes! Final prepartions and route planning are the order of the day....... oh and trying to get as much cash in for Help for Heroes obviously!!! So come on - if you have enjoyed this blog and all the photos from the guys in Afghanistan and out teddies please, please, please go to www.bmycharity.com/dambusters2012 and donate something to our cause today. Thank you.
