At the Mohne Dam...

Just a few photo's of the Mohne Dam - today it is a tranquil and beautiful spot. It was somewhat sureal to stand there and think about why we were there and what the location must have been like at about 00:19hrs on 17th May 1943 when Lancaster AJ-J arrived on the scene carrying their bouncing bomb!

.... and a poignant one.  AJ-J returns to the Mohne Dam 69 years on in tribute to the brave men who flew in 617 Sqdn's Lancaster on that famous raid in 1943!
